Salvador gómez-Colón
Salvador Gómez-Colón is an author, humanitarian, and advocate currently working at the Office of Eric Schmidt as research associate to Fareed Zakaria.
Born and raised in San Juan, Salvador founded Light and Hope for Puerto Rico, a nonprofit that has raised over $250,000 and provided disaster relief and clean energy to more than 9,000 families across the Caribbean. He also drafted and petitioned for Puerto Rico’s nation-leading RC 42-2024 legislation, which centers on technological solutions and skills-building to empower the island’s 260,000 K-12 students to build climate resilience.
For his work, Salvador was named one of TIME Magazine’s Most Influential Teens, featured on Disney+’s Marvel’s Hero Project, and awarded the U.S. President’s Environmental Youth Award and the UK Diana Award, among other distinctions. He has addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Aspen Institute, UN agencies, and dozens of schools and community centers.
Salvador is the author of Hurricane: My Story of Resilience, a middle-grade memoir published by Norton Young Readers chronicling his early humanitarian work and its lessons for youth leadership. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Yale.
